Justin Baldoni allegedly sent a message to Disney and Marvel Studios, urging them to preserve evidence of Ryan Reynolds allegedly insulting him during Deadpool filming.

The escalating tensions between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively have taken a dramatic legal turn

as Baldoni moves forward with plans to sue his former co-star and her husband, Ryan Reynolds.

This legal conflict follows Lively’s allegations of sexual harassment and Baldoni’s counterclaims of defamation and retaliation.

The Allegations Against Baldoni

Blake Lively, 37, filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, 39, alleging sexual harassment, emotional distress,

and retaliation during their time filming It Ends With Us, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel.

The movie premiered in August 2024, but the off-screen drama has since overshadowed its release. Lively claimed Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath engaged in misconduct, not only toward her but also other female cast and crew members.

In a complaint first filed with the California Civil Rights Department and later in federal court, Lively accused Baldoni and Heath of creating a toxic environment on set. The complaint revealed that Lively convened a January 2024 meeting—attended by her husband, Ryan Reynolds—where she addressed the alleged behavior directly.

“Ms. Lively was forced to address concerns about Mr. Baldoni and Mr. Heath’s misconduct with them directly, and began doing so months before filming began,” the complaint stated.

Baldoni’s Legal Countermoves

In response, Baldoni has strongly denied the allegations. His lawyer, Bryan Freedman, described the claims as “false, outrageous, and intentionally salacious,” accusing Lively of fabricating a narrative to harm his reputation.

Adding to the legal drama, Baldoni’s team has issued a litigation hold letter to the Walt Disney Company and Marvel Studios, requesting the preservation of all documents related to the creation of the Deadpool franchise. Baldoni alleges that Reynolds, a key figure in the franchise, used the character “Nicepool” in Deadpool & Wolverine to mock and intimidate him.

“There’s no question [the character] relates to Justin,” Freedman stated during an interview. “That hair bun, the comment about the pregnancy … It’s pretty obvious what’s being done. But again, if somebody is seriously sexually harassed, you don’t make fun of it. It’s a serious issue.”

The litigation hold letter, addressed to Disney CEO Bob Iger and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, calls on the companies to preserve “all relevant documents and data” to prevent destruction of evidence.

A Complex Legal Battle

Baldoni’s countersuit against Lively is expected to focus on claims of defamation and retaliation, with his legal team arguing that Lively’s allegations have caused irreparable damage to his career and public image. Baldoni has also filed a separate defamation lawsuit against The New York Times, which covered the initial allegations.

Meanwhile, Lively’s legal team has stood firm, emphasizing that her claims are supported by “concrete facts.” In a statement, her lawyers said, “This is not a ‘he said/she said’ situation. As alleged in Ms. Lively’s complaint, and as we will prove in litigation, Wayfarer [Studios] and its associates engaged in unlawful, retaliatory astroturfing against Ms. Lively for simply trying to protect herself and others on a film set.”

The Role of Ryan Reynolds

Reynolds has not directly commented on the case, but his involvement as Lively’s husband and as an alleged participant in Baldoni’s claims has added another layer to the conflict. Baldoni’s legal team has requested documents that might link Reynolds to any intentional mockery or harassment.

What’s Next?

The feud between Baldoni and Lively is shaping up to be one of the most high-profile legal battles in Hollywood. As both sides prepare to present their cases, the outcome could have significant implications for their careers and reputations.

For now, the drama continues to unfold in courtrooms and public statements, with fans and industry insiders closely watching for the next chapter in this contentious saga.
