Sunny Hostin from The View sparked concern about her mental health after making a chilling remark about her aunt’s passing.

Star Jones made a powerful return to *The View* on Wednesday, February 5,

after a long absence, having been a host on the show from 1997 to 2006.

Her visit was a heartfelt way to kick off American Heart Month, drawing attention to the importance of women’s heart health.

However, the episode also became an unexpected emotional moment for one of the show’s current hosts, Sunny Hostin, as the conversation took a deeply personal turn.

Jones, who has long been an advocate for heart health, shared her own personal story of survival.

In 2010, she underwent open-heart surgery to repair her aortic valve.

At the time, Jones didn’t know it, but she and the late Barbara Walters had undergone the same surgery that year. The experience, which she called a “scare,” marked a turning point in her life. Today, Jones refers to herself as a “survivor and a thriver,” explaining that her health and life had drastically improved after the surgery. This new lease on life inspired her to become an advocate for heart health, particularly in women and people of color.

Jones passionately spoke about how heart disease remains the number one killer of Americans, especially women and Black Americans, emphasizing how vital it is to raise awareness about this issue. Her message was clear and resonated deeply with her co-hosts, especially Sunny Hostin. However, as Jones spoke about her journey and her mission, Hostin became visibly emotional, and her reaction moved the entire set.

At the end of the segment, as Jones continued discussing the importance of heart health, Hostin, with tears in her eyes, apologized to the audience, revealing the heartbreaking reason behind her emotions. “I’m sorry, my aunt died yesterday of a heart attack,” Hostin shared, her voice breaking with sorrow. The revelation was a shocking and emotional moment for the audience, as Hostin had just lost a loved one to the very heart disease that Star Jones was bringing attention to on the show.

Jones, always compassionate, responded with heartfelt sympathy. “Oh, I did not know that,” she said, her voice filled with concern for her colleague. Hostin then turned to her fellow co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, asking, “So can you take my question?” The support from both Jones and Griffin was immediate, with Griffin offering comforting words and a gentle touch on Hostin’s hand to help ease her pain.

Despite the raw emotions, the show carried on, and Jones was able to continue the conversation about her new role on *Divorce Court*. However, Star Jones, ever the thoughtful and caring person, wasn’t going to let her friend’s grief go unnoticed. She returned to the emotional moment, offering words of comfort to Hostin in the most beautiful and tender way.

In a brief but touching transition, Jones spoke directly to Hostin, saying, “So, it may be the silliest transition I’ve ever made on television, but understand that your aunt is at home with her God, and we are here to fulfill her legacy.”

Hostin, visibly moved, wiped her tears away with a tissue and responded with a quiet “I’m sorry, everyone.”

Jones, with deep understanding, reassured her friend, saying, “Do not worry about stuff like that. We’re your girls. You’re supposed to be vulnerable with your girls. That’s what it’s about, OK?”

Hostin appeared comforted by Jones’ kind words, finding solace in the support from her *View* family in such a vulnerable moment. The day had been emotionally intense for Hostin, who had been reeling from the loss of her aunt just hours earlier, and the deep connection and understanding shown by Jones and her co-hosts provided a healing moment in the midst of her grief.

For many viewers, this emotional moment was a reminder of the importance of support, compassion, and vulnerability, especially in times of loss. It also underscored the significance of discussing important health issues like heart disease while also highlighting the human side of those delivering these messages. Star Jones’ visit to *The View* not only created awareness about heart health but also provided an incredibly touching and personal moment for one of her co-hosts, reminding everyone watching of the importance of empathy and friendship.
