Whoopi Goldberg of The View faced backlash for using a potentially de@dly weight-loss method, raising concerns about her health.

AI-generated scams are on the rise, and this time, Whoopi Goldberg has become the latest target.

A fake advertisement used the actress and talk show host’s likeness to promote a weight loss drug, misleading fans into believing she endorsed the product.

However, Goldberg took a stand, debunking the false claims on The View and revealing the actual medication she used in her weight loss journey.

AI Scam Uses Whoopi Goldberg’s Image for Fake Endorsement

Deepfake technology has increasingly been used to exploit public figures, manipulating their images and voices to create misleading content.

From Taylor Swift to Scarlett Johansson, numerous celebrities have been victims of this unethical trend. Now, Whoopi Goldberg has found herself in the same predicament.

Goldberg recently discovered that a company had been using her image to sell a weight loss product on social media. Addressing the issue on The View, she set the record straight and warned viewers about the dangers of believing AI-generated content.

Goldberg Issues Warning About AI-Generated Fake Ads

During a segment on The View, Goldberg wasted no time in shutting down the false claims. She called attention to the deceptive advertisement, which featured a manipulated video of her seemingly endorsing a weight loss drug. She urged viewers not to fall for the scam, emphasizing that she does not promote any products unless she explicitly states otherwise.

“I’m giving everybody a heads-up. There is a phony weight loss ad floating around online, on Instagram, that has me, AI mouthed, saying all kinds of stuff. I don’t sell anything unless I say, ‘Hey it’s me, Whoopi.’ That’s how you know it’s me,” she said.

Goldberg further advised her audience to ignore the misleading ad and not engage with it. “Do not indulge in this, do not look at this. Just get rid of it, because I don’t know what it is. I had nothing to do with it, and I don’t want y’all thinking that this is coming from me,” she added.

Reports revealed that the AI-generated advertisement had taken footage from Goldberg’s interview on CBS News Sunday Morning and altered it to make it appear as though she was promoting the product.

The Real Weight Loss Drug Whoopi Goldberg Used

While Goldberg dismissed the AI-generated endorsement as a scam, she did take the opportunity to be transparent about her actual weight loss journey. The Sister Act star has openly discussed her struggles with weight fluctuations over the years. In 2024, she appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s special, Shame, Blame, and the Weight Loss Revolution, where she detailed her experience with weight loss.

Goldberg revealed that she had reached nearly 300 pounds while filming the 2021 movie Till. “I had taken all those steroids, I was on all this stuff,” she shared. Seeing herself in the film made her realize the extent of her weight gain. “I had always just felt like me. And then I saw me and I thought, ‘Oh, that’s a lot of me.’”

After struggling with her weight for years, Goldberg turned to Mounjaro, a GLP-1 medication prescribed for diabetes and obesity. The drug, which has gained popularity for its weight loss benefits, helped her shed the extra pounds.

Goldberg Stands Against AI Deception

Goldberg made it clear that while she did use Mounjaro to assist in her weight loss, she has never endorsed any other weight loss drugs. She urged her viewers to be cautious of AI-generated content, stressing the importance of verifying information before believing what they see online.

“I told you what I did. I was upfront. I don’t have any reason to go sell some other stuff. I told you how I got to – my Mounjaro, I used Mounjaro, which is what I did. But this stuff, I don’t know who these people are. That’s the problem with AI. You don’t know who made it, but I’m telling you, it’s a lot of BS. Do not fall for it,” she warned.

Goldberg’s experience serves as a reminder that deepfake scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated. With AI-generated content making it harder to distinguish between real and fake, public figures and consumers alike must remain vigilant. While Goldberg has been open about her personal weight loss journey, she refuses to let AI manipulation dictate her narrative.
