Sunny Hostin risked The View’s CANCELLATION with a vulgar comment aimed at Americans. What happened?

The hosts of The View have come under fire for their emotional responses to Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election.

Following Trump’s decisive win over Kamala Harris, securing both the popular vote and 292 Electoral College votes,

the co-hosts of the long-running ABC talk show shared their reactions live on air—sparking widespread criticism, particularly from Trump supporters.

Sunny Hostin’s Comments Stir Controversy

During the Wednesday morning episode of The View, co-host Sunny Hostin became visibly emotional as she processed the election results.

Through tears, Hostin expressed her deep disappointment, attributing Trump’s win to “cultural resentment” rather than policy preferences.

“I was so hopeful that a mixed-race woman married to a Jewish guy could be elected president of this country,” Hostin said, referring to Harris. “And I think that it had nothing to do with policy. I think this was a referendum of cultural resentment in this country.”

Hostin also placed blame on voting demographics, particularly white and Latino voters, for Harris’s defeat.

“Black women tried to save this country again last night,” she continued. “What we do not have is white women, who voted about 52 percent for Donald Trump—uneducated white women, is my understanding. You have Latino men actually voting more for him.”

Her remarks quickly ignited a backlash, with many viewers criticizing her for generalizing voter groups and dismissing the legitimacy of the election outcome.

Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar Mourn the Results

Hostin wasn’t the only View co-host struggling to come to terms with the election results. Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and others appeared on-air dressed in black, a choice many viewers interpreted as a symbolic act of mourning.

Goldberg, who has long been a vocal critic of Trump, refused to say his name during the broadcast, while Behar made it clear that she was completely opposed to the outcome.

“I vehemently disagree with this decision,” Behar stated, her disappointment evident.

The somber mood on the set contrasted sharply with the celebratory atmosphere seen among Trump’s supporters across the country, further fueling tensions between the show’s panel and conservative viewers.

Social Media Reacts: “Meltdown on Live TV”

Hostin’s comments, in particular, sparked outrage on social media, with many conservative commentators and Trump supporters accusing her of having a “public meltdown.”

“As expected, the ladies on The View are having a meltdown and blaming everyone they can,” one user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote.

Another viewer mocked the show’s attire, writing, “The View is all dressed in black for the Democrats’ funeral party.”

Others criticized Hostin’s analysis of voter demographics, calling her claims misleading or offensive.

“Totally not true, Sunny, no matter how you try to spin it!” one viewer fired back.

Another user sarcastically added, “This is the first time I’ve ever watched The View. My brain hurts from all their spin-drivel.”

The View’s Role in Political Discourse

As a long-running daytime talk show, The View has never shied away from political discussions, often sparking passionate debates among its co-hosts and audience. The show, which airs weekdays on ABC, features a diverse panel of women discussing the day’s most pressing topics, ranging from politics to celebrity gossip.

Over the years, The View has become a battleground for political opinions, with its predominantly liberal hosts frequently clashing with more conservative perspectives. The post-election episode proved to be no exception, as emotions ran high in response to Trump’s unexpected landslide victory.

Looking Ahead: The Impact of Trump’s Win

With Trump returning to the White House, the political landscape of the country is set for another major shift. While his supporters celebrate a decisive win, critics—many of whom are represented on The View—fear what another Trump presidency could mean for issues like healthcare, immigration, and civil rights.

Despite the backlash, it’s likely that The View will continue to be a space for heated political discourse. Whether viewers agree or disagree with the hosts, one thing is certain—the conversation isn’t ending anytime soon.
