While speaking with ABC’s Will Reeve and Rebecca Jarvis, Seacrest shared what viewers can expect from the iconic show, emphasizing that there is always a bit of chaos in the air. 

He described the spontaneous moments that make the event so special, noting that “there’s always a little bit of chaos” during the live broadcast, 

but that these unexpected occurrences are part of the show’s charm. One such chaotic moment that often takes place is the many proposals in Times Square as the ball drops.

Jarvis mentioned that New Year’s Eve is notorious for couples proposing at the stroke of midnight. “You have people proposing in Times Square literally, like, ‘Let’s get married,’” she remarked. Seacrest agreed, revealing that proposals have become a beloved tradition at the event, with some making it to television and others not. “Yes, that’s something that’s happened almost every single year,” Seacrest confirmed. “Some of it makes TV, some of it doesn’t, but people love that moment to say, ‘Will you be with me for the rest of our lives?’”

The conversation soon turned to Reeve’s own recent engagement to fiancée Amanda Dubin. Reeve jokingly said he should have proposed on New Year’s Eve with Seacrest as his co-conspirator, teasing that Amanda might not have accepted the proposal in such a public setting. “I should have done the proposal on New Year’s Eve with Ryan,” Reeve quipped. “Amanda would have said no.”
