Sheinelle Jones breaks down, insisting she NEVER INTENDED to walk away from TODAY: “It’s all because of my skin color…”

Sheinelle Jones is no stranger to live television mishaps, but her latest wardrobe malfunction on Today’s Third Hour had both her co-hosts and viewers in stitches.

The NBC star, known for her vibrant personality and professionalism, found herself at the center of an unexpected fashion dilemma on Monday morning—

one that even impacted her ability to move freely for the rest of the show.

Al Roker Exposes Sheinelle’s Wardrobe Mishap

Sheinelle’s fashion faux pas may have gone unnoticed by viewers had it not been for her co-anchor Al Roker, who humorously revealed her predicament on air.

During the broadcast, Al casually announced to the audience that Sheinelle had split her pants, instantly drawing laughter from both the crew and those watching at home.

While Sheinelle appeared slightly embarrassed, she quickly turned the moment into a joke, telling viewers, “I’d show you, but then we’d get canceled.”

Her quick wit helped lighten the situation, but the wardrobe malfunction wasn’t over just yet.

A Quick Fix Comes with a Price

During a commercial break, Sheinelle sought help from the wardrobe department, and when the show returned, Al Roker couldn’t resist teasing her again. Cutting her off mid-sentence, he excitedly introduced some “breaking news”—which turned out to be a clip of Sheinelle being sewn into her pants.

The footage showed her standing behind a desk while Alex, a member of the wardrobe team, knelt behind her, working diligently to fix the tear in her navy slacks.

Grateful for the quick fix, Sheinelle laughed as she addressed the situation, saying, “So this is Alex in our wardrobe department. She just worked a miracle—she sewed me into my pants!”

However, while the repair allowed her to continue the broadcast without further issue, it did come with one major drawback: she was now unable to use the restroom. “I can’t use the restroom for the rest of the hour—I’m sewed in,” she admitted.

Sheinelle Returns After Mysterious Absence

Sheinelle’s wardrobe mishap comes on the heels of her recent return to the Today Show after several weeks away. The longtime host had been absent from both the show and social media for most of October, sparking concern among fans.

Many viewers had taken to social media to ask about her whereabouts, as there had been no official explanation for her time away. On her last Instagram post from October 9, followers left comments like, “Haven’t seen you on the Third Hour for days!! All they are saying is Sheinelle is off today. No mention of where or what you’re doing,” and “Where have you been? Missing you on the 3rd hour.”

Now that she is back on air, fans are happy to see her return—even if it comes with a few unexpected wardrobe malfunctions along the way.

A Key Player on the ‘Today’ Show

Sheinelle Jones has been an integral part of Today since she joined the network in 2014. She started as a co-host on Weekend Today before transitioning to the Third Hour in 2019. Over the years, she has conducted high-profile interviews, covered major events, and brought her signature energy to the show.

Outside of her role on Today, Sheinelle has also taken on other professional endeavors. She executive produced Stories We Tell: The Fertility Secret, a documentary that delves into fertility challenges. She is also gearing up to release her book, Through Mom’s Eyes, a heartfelt collection of stories about the mothers of famous celebrities.

An Exciting New Book Project

In September, Sheinelle took to Instagram to announce her upcoming book, Through Mom’s Eyes, which is set for release on Mother’s Day 2025. The book will feature stories from the mothers of various celebrities, including Steph Curry, Shaquille O’Neal, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Lady Gaga, Matthew McConaughey, the Wahlberg brothers, Tyra Banks, and the Jonas Brothers.

Sheinelle also revealed that many of her friends contributed personal lessons they learned from their own mothers, including Billie Jean King, chef Marcus Samuelsson, Andy Cohen, Colin Jost, Mario Lopez, and CeCe Winans. She described the project as “a love letter to mothers,” adding that she shares her own journey from her childhood in Kansas to her career on Today.

A Devoted Mom Balancing Work and Family

While Sheinelle is dedicated to her career, she is also a proud mother of three. She and her husband, Uche Ojeh, share children Kayin, Uche, and Clara.

In 2023, Sheinelle’s children made a special appearance at the Today studios during Bring Your Kids to Work Day. She documented the moment on social media, writing, “This is the first time my kiddos have seen me do the show in the studio! I think it was good for them to see what mommy does every morning.”

Sheinelle has also spoken about her parenting philosophy, explaining how she strives to teach her children the value of teamwork while also nurturing their individuality.

A Lighthearted Moment in a Busy Career

Sheinelle’s wardrobe mishap may have been an unexpected hurdle in her morning routine, but she handled it with grace, humor, and professionalism. Her ability to laugh at herself and turn an awkward moment into an entertaining segment only adds to her charm and relatability.

While she may have been temporarily “sewn in,” Sheinelle remains a staple on the Today Show, and her fans wouldn’t have it any other way.
