The entertainment industry was left in shock as news emerged of the deaths of legendary Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife, classical pianist Betsy Arakawa. 

The couple, along with their pet dog, was found deceased in their Santa Fe, New Mexico home on Wednesday afternoon.

Additionally, their deceased dog was located nearby, while two other dogs were found alive within the property.

Hackman’s daughter, Leslie, spoke about her father’s health in the days before his passing, revealing that, despite being 95, he maintained an active lifestyle, practicing yoga and Pilates. Though she had not seen him in person for a few years due to distance, they had remained in contact. She expressed her disbelief over the circumstances, particularly regarding Arakawa’s unexpected death at 63.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference, reiterating that the case remains under investigation. Detectives have not ruled out any possibilities, including accidental poisoning, double homicide, or natural causes. Authorities confirmed that there were no immediate signs of a gas leak, but forensic teams are working alongside the local fire department and gas company to rule out carbon monoxide exposure as a potential factor.
