Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos recently shared a hilarious mix-up involving a text message and legendary Today show weatherman Al Roker. 

The couple, who co-host “Live with Kelly and Mark,” took a trip down memory lane on their morning show, 

recalling an incident where a technological glitch led to an amusing case of mistaken identity.

During their conversation, Ripa explained that years ago, she and Consuelos had exchanged phone numbers with Roker after meeting him at an event. 

They had discussed making plans for a future dinner, but what should have been a simple exchange of pleasantries turned into an unexpected marital misunderstanding.

At the time, a technical issue with their shared cell phone carrier caused some of Ripa’s incoming text messages to be redirected to Consuelos’ phone. 

This glitch set the stage for a particularly confusing moment when Consuelos received a message that he wasn’t expecting.

“[The message said] ‘Hey sweetie, when can we have dinner? Love, Al,’” Consuelos recounted on the show. His immediate reaction was one of shock and confusion. He turned to his wife and demanded, “Who the blank is Al!?”

Ripa, laughing at the memory, quickly corrected her husband, saying, “First of all, it did not say, ‘Hey sweetie.’ That’s you putting your own twist on it!” Despite the minor exaggeration, the sentiment remained the same—the unexpected message led to a moment of playful suspicion between the two.

“I tried to do the weather,” Consuelos said, shaking his head at the memory. “And I totally bombed it. I even said, ‘And here’s what’s happening in your neck of the woods!’”

For longtime viewers, this slip-up was particularly amusing since Roker’s famous phrase is a signature line from “Today,” a direct competitor to “Good Morning America.” Whether Roker was amused or annoyed by the accidental catchphrase theft remains unknown, but the moment clearly stuck with Consuelos as an embarrassing yet funny memory.
