Lala Kent has shared her thoughts on Jax Taylor’s shocking admission about his decades-long struggle with drug addiction, 

revealing that she is proud of him for speaking out.

The Vanderpump Rules star, 34, addressed the issue during an Amazon Live session on Wednesday, just one day after Jax, 45, 

confessed to having a cocaine addiction for the past 20 years. Lala, who has been open about her own battle with alcohol addiction, 

acknowledged that it is not easy to admit such struggles and expressed her hope that this will be a turning point for her longtime co-star.

Lala’s Support for Jax and Brittany

Lala, who shares a close friendship with Jax’s estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright, 36, hinted that she has known a great deal about the situation. However, she made it clear that it is not her place to speak on certain details, as it is Brittany’s story to tell.

“Brittany is one of my dearest friends. I know a lot, but I don’t know what will be shown in their new show, The Valley,” Lala stated. “Anything we’ve discussed is her story to share.”

Lala emphasized that addiction recovery is different for everyone, explaining, “Sobriety is not one-size-fits-all. Everyone has a different level of addiction, but addiction is addiction.”

Tom Sandoval and the Cast React to Jax’s Confession

Jax’s former co-star Tom Sandoval, who has known him for years, also weighed in on the situation during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Sandoval admitted that Jax’s struggles were not a surprise to the Vanderpump Rules cast.

When asked if he was aware of Jax’s cocaine problem, Sandoval responded, “Yes, I was somewhat aware of his problems with addiction. I’ve been around him over the years, obviously.”

He confirmed that many in the cast knew about Jax’s issues, adding, “I think that’s amazing. I’m so proud of him. I think it’s awesome. He really seems like he’s been working on himself.”

Jax Opens Up About His Addiction

Jax Taylor made his confession during an episode of Hot Mic, where he admitted to struggling with cocaine addiction since the age of 23. Now 45, he said he was “proud” to share that he has been sober for 83 days.

“I’ve been dealing with this on and off for years,” Jax revealed. “There were times when I would stop, but then I would go heavy on it again.”

He described addiction as “a really tough disease” and explained how difficult it was for him to say the words out loud.

“I’ve never said this in my life. Admitting that I have an addiction and that I have a sickness I have to work on for the rest of my life is a big deal for me,” he stated. “It’s a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.”

Jax acknowledged that his drug use had been visible on Vanderpump Rules at times. Looking back at certain scenes, he recalled thinking, “How big are my pupils? I’m sweating when there’s no reason to be sweating.”

He also claimed that while producers sometimes told him to calm down, they likely assumed he had been drinking too much rather than using drugs. Jax insisted that the show’s producers never supplied the cast with drugs and admitted that he would sneak off to use during breaks.

Brittany Cartwright’s Skepticism

While Jax is optimistic about his sobriety, his ex-wife Brittany remains doubtful. In a candid statement, Brittany admitted she was unsure whether he would be able to fully overcome his addiction.

“I’m glad that he finally admitted to what was really going on,” she said. “For the first time, I can speak openly about the extent of trauma he’s instilled on our family over the years. I’ve tried desperately to help him without success.”

Brittany expressed concerns about Jax’s recovery, saying, “I pray that one day he completely knocks this addiction, but I’m skeptical. His behaviors are still alarming, and his treatment plan seems to be the bare minimum.”

She also revealed that the situation has been extremely difficult for her and their three-year-old son, Cruz.

“Jax has caused an enormous amount of damage, and I have very little trust in him at this point. My only hope is that one day, he will be a better person for his son,” she added.

Brittany encouraged fans to tune into her podcast, When Reality Hits, where she planned to discuss the matter further.

Jax’s Sobriety Journey

Jax disclosed that his battle with addiction worsened after his split from Brittany, recalling a moment when he hit “rock bottom” by yelling at her in front of their son.

In an effort to turn his life around, he entered a rehab facility last summer. Now, he identifies as “California sober,” meaning that while he has given up alcohol and cocaine, he still occasionally uses marijuana.

“I don’t necessarily think I have an alcohol problem, but the two go hand in hand,” he explained. “I can’t do cocaine without drinking, so I gave up both.”

Jax admitted that his addiction had cost him his reputation, nearly affected his custody of Cruz, and embarrassed Brittany.

“I was going to lose custody. I was embarrassing my ex-wife and myself. Nobody was taking me seriously. I want to do this for myself,” he said.

Looking Ahead

Jax is now in therapy and undergoing regular drug testing as part of his recovery. He hopes to regain Brittany’s trust and be a better father to Cruz.

“I don’t know what else she wants from me. I’m doing everything she asked for because I respect her and want to make her happy,” he said. “I’m going above and beyond to show her that I care and that I want to be in my son’s life.”

With support from friends like Lala and Sandoval, Jax is facing his addiction head-on. Whether his newfound sobriety will last remains to be seen, but for now, he is determined to change his life.
