Kelly Ripa has never been one to shy away from playful banter about her husband Mark Consuelos’ past relationships, 

and on a recent episode of Live! with Kelly and Mark, she shared a humorous anecdote about an unexpected run-in with one of his ex-girlfriends.

During the March 11 broadcast, the couple was discussing how people tend to downplay their alcohol consumption when speaking with doctors. 

Mark, 53, jokingly compared it to how people might not always be truthful with their partners about their past relationships. 

That’s when Kelly, 54, recalled a surprising encounter with a woman who once dated her husband.

A Drive-Thru Surprise

As Kelly explained, the memorable moment occurred while she, Mark, and their son Joaquin were in Florida. While pulling up to a drive-thru, the woman handing over their lunch casually mentioned, “I used to date your husband.”

Kelly laughed as she shared the story, explaining that the unexpected revelation caught her off guard. Though she couldn’t recall exactly when the incident happened, the interaction stuck with her, highlighting just how small the world can feel sometimes—especially when married to someone with a long dating history.

A Wrestling Match Turns Into a Blast from the Past

This wasn’t the only time Kelly found herself crossing paths with Mark’s exes. She also recalled a separate occasion during a wrestling tournament in Wildwood, New Jersey, where she unexpectedly met another of his former flames.

Mark, who grew up in New Jersey, had teased Kelly before the event, joking that they were entering her territory and would likely run into several of her ex-boyfriends.

“Oh, we’re in your neck of the woods. I wonder how many of your ex-boyfriends we’re going to see? I wonder how many of your ex-boyfriends’ kids Joaquin is going to have to wrestle?’” Kelly recounted, mimicking Mark’s playful tone. Confident that no such encounters would happen, she dismissed the idea.

But just minutes after arriving at the tournament, Kelly was proven wrong.

“Within three seconds of walking in, one of Mark’s ex-girlfriends was right there in the crowd,” she shared, adding that her husband’s former flame had children competing in the tournament as well.

Mark shrugged off the coincidence, noting that her sons were talented wrestlers, while Kelly concluded with a victorious, “So I rest my case. The people rest!”

Love at First Sight

Despite Mark’s fair share of ex-girlfriends, his love story with Kelly has always been a standout. The two met in 1995 during a screen test for All My Children, and for Mark, it was love at first sight.

During a February 12 episode of Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, Mark reminisced about the moment he first saw Kelly.

“I forget what top you had on, but you were holding a cup of coffee and smoking a cigarette like out of a Parisian editorial page,” he recalled. “She looked like this French vixen.”

At the time, both were in other relationships, but Mark couldn’t help but be captivated. “I was like, ‘Wow, she’s got really beautiful eyes.’ Her cheekbones are very specific, her hair is amazing, but her eyes and lips—I was like, ‘Wow, she’s got great lips,’” he admitted.

Their undeniable chemistry eventually led to a whirlwind romance, and they eloped in 1996. Nearly three decades later, they remain one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples, known for their affectionate and often hilarious relationship.

Keeping It Fun

Kelly and Mark’s playful approach to marriage has kept their relationship strong over the years. Whether it’s joking about each other’s pasts or sharing their love story with fans, they continue to be one of the most entertaining and endearing couples in the spotlight.
