Blake Lively Seeks Stronger Legal Protections Amid Justin Baldoni Lawsuit, Citing Threats

Blake Lively has formally requested additional legal protections 

as her legal battle with Justin Baldoni escalates. The actress, 37, has allegedly received violent and threatening messages, 

prompting her legal team to push for stricter confidentiality measures.

On Thursday, Lively’s attorneys petitioned Judge Lewis J. Liman for a more stringent protective order than the court’s standard model. 

They proposed a provision that would classify certain discovery materials as “Attorney’s Eyes Only,” 

restricting public access to sensitive information due to the high-profile nature of the case.

According to legal documents obtained by Page Six, this category would apply to materials that are “highly confidential and personal, sensitive, or proprietary,” with disclosure potentially causing personal, financial, or professional harm.

Allegations and Online Backlash

Lively’s legal team pointed to her recent amended complaint against Baldoni as justification for the heightened protection request. The filing states that Lively, her family, members of the film’s cast, and individuals supporting her have been subjected to “violent, profane, sexist, and threatening communications.”

The Gossip Girl alum has also faced significant online backlash, which her attorneys argue further necessitates stronger protective measures. They contend that making certain details public could violate Lively’s privacy, expose her and her family to further threats, and create an environment of potential witness intimidation.

In their letter to the court, her legal team emphasized that the case involves “high-profile individuals, to whom a duty of confidentiality is owed.”

Impact on Family and Career

Lively’s updated complaint also highlights the toll the lawsuit has taken on her family. She claims that her four children—James, 10, Inez, 8, Betty, 5, and Olin, 2—have been deeply affected, describing them as “emotionally uprooted” by the legal turmoil.

Her husband, Ryan Reynolds, has also reportedly suffered mentally, physically, and professionally as a result of the controversy. Meanwhile, Lively herself has experienced “grief, fear, trauma, and extreme anxiety” in recent months.

Accusations Against Baldoni

Lively’s amended lawsuit reinforces her allegations of sexual harassment against Baldoni, who directed and starred in It Ends With Us, which was released in August 2024. She claims that multiple women on set felt uncomfortable due to his behavior.

According to the filing, two individuals are willing to testify about their experiences working on the film. However, their identities have been withheld due to concerns about cyberbullying and retaliation.

Text messages from May 2023 included in the complaint reveal Lively venting about Baldoni and his Wayfarer Studios partner, Jamey Heath. She allegedly referred to them as “creeps” and “clowns,” writing, “Like keep your hormones to yourselves. This is not mine. I don’t want it. I don’t want your gaze or words or tongue or videos of your naked wife.”

Baldoni’s Legal Counterattack

Baldoni has vehemently denied Lively’s allegations and responded with legal action of his own. His attorney, Bryan Freedman, dismissed Lively’s claims as lacking substantial evidence.

“Her underwhelming amended complaint is filled with unsubstantial hearsay of unnamed persons who are clearly no longer willing to come forward or publicly support her claims,” Freedman said in a statement.

Baldoni has launched multiple lawsuits in response, including a $400 million defamation and extortion claim against Lively and Reynolds. Additionally, he has filed a $250 million libel lawsuit against The New York Times, which originally published details of Lively’s complaint.

Freedman further argued that upcoming depositions would expose the truth, stating, “Since documents do not lie and people do, the upcoming depositions of those who initially supported Ms. Lively’s false claims and those who are witnesses to her own behavior will be enlightening.”

As the legal drama unfolds, neither Lively nor Baldoni has publicly commented on the latest developments. However, with the amended complaint and Baldoni’s counter-lawsuits, this battle shows no signs of slowing down.
