Television presenter Claudia Winkleman has confessed to an unexpected love affair that’s taken her by surprise – and it’s not with her husband, film producer Kris Thykier.
Instead, it’s the newest addition to her family, a dog she has become completely smitten with.

Claudia opened up to comedian Kathy Burke about her deep affection for her new furry companion.
As the host of *The Traitors* and *Strictly Come Dancing*, Claudia’s life is typically filled with a busy schedule, but it’s her dog, who has become the focal point of her attention.
Claudia revealed that she has recently welcomed a dog into her home, something she had never done before.
“So, I’ve recently got a dog, who I am in love with,” she shared, laughing. “I’m going to bore you till your ears bleed,” she added, acknowledging her enthusiasm. The family’s new pet has become such an important part of Claudia’s life that she’s been known to sing lullabies to him and even spoil him with toys. “I look for toys for him, I stroke his ears, I sing him a lullaby,” she said, admitting that she has become so attached to the dog that her affections might be a bit much for her husband.
While Claudia is head over heels for her new dog, her husband Kris isn’t quite as convinced about the intensity of her affections. She recalled Kris’s reaction with a chuckle: “My husband was like, ‘This is too much.’” Apparently, he doesn’t quite understand her devotion, as Claudia explained how she goes as far as inserting her tongue into the dog’s mouth – a level of intimacy that is clearly a bit much for Kris. In fact, Claudia’s behavior even reminded her of a comedic moment from the 1998 film *There’s Something About Mary*, where a character lets her dog lick her face.
Despite her husband’s reaction, Claudia is unapologetically in love with her dog, whom she affectionately calls “Skip.” “I love Skip, love of my life,” she said, confirming just how deep her affection runs. Skip has certainly captured Claudia’s heart, filling the void left when her children, Jake, Matilda, and Arthur, became more independent and moved out.
Claudia, who has never had a dog before, says she was initially unsure of how to navigate her newfound love for her pet. “I didn’t know what to do. I thought I might steal a baby, so instead, I got a dog who I treat like…” she trailed off, adding humorously, “I don’t put him in clothes, but I didn’t know.”
Her joy for Skip has even spilled into social media, with Claudia and her family recently sharing a humorous and heartwarming TikTok video. The clip featured Claudia, Kris, and their three children, celebrating their dog’s fictitious acceptance to Harvard. The lighthearted moment saw Claudia holding the dog’s paws while the family eagerly awaited the announcement, before erupting in exaggerated excitement at the ‘news.’ Claudia’s daughter, Matilda, captioned the video, “Pretending our dog got into Harvard because why not.”
