Harrison Ford, 82, Gives Witty Response About Retirement Plans

Harrison Ford is proving that age is just a number as he continues to take on new roles at 82. 

While attending the red carpet event for Season 2 of 1923, the Yellowstone prequel, 

the Hollywood icon was asked what might lead him to retire. In classic Ford fashion, he delivered a deadpan response:

“When you forget my name.”

The Indiana Jones star, who has spent decades in the industry, gave a similarly nonchalant answer when questioned about the possibility of a third season for 1923. 

Shrugging, he simply said, “I just work here.”

No Plans to Retire Anytime Soon

During the same event, Extra also asked Ford about retirement. His response? “Haven’t thought about it.”

So, what keeps him going? Ford credits good storytelling, saying, “I just stumbled into a kind of vein of it, and that’s why I’m so ubiquitous right now.”

Praising Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, he added, “His writing is exceptional. He’s an incredible storyteller. Nothing like that that I’ve ever seen.”

Ford stars in 1923 alongside Helen Mirren, 79, who plays his on-screen wife. The two have been friends for years, and he had nothing but admiration for her, saying, “She’s an absolutely extraordinary actress and a wonderful person. I really adore her. She’s a lot of fun, incredibly talented, and one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.”

A Career Still in Full Swing

Despite being in his eighties, Ford remains a fixture in Hollywood. He currently appears in 1923 as well as Apple TV+’s hit comedy Shrinking, a role that earned him a Golden Globe nomination. He is also set to appear in Captain America: Brave New World, proving his continued relevance in blockbuster films.

At the 1923 Season 2 premiere, Ford’s co-star Julia Schlaepfer, who plays his character’s daughter-in-law, spoke about his humor and charm.

“He’s the funniest person alive,” Schlaepfer, 29, said. She shared how Ford would joke with her on set, even playfully asking for her autograph only to crumple it up and throw it away.

Life Beyond Hollywood

Off-screen, Ford has been married to actress Calista Flockhart, 60, since 2010. The couple shares an adopted son, Liam, 22, while Ford also has four adult children from previous marriages: Benjamin, 58, Willard, 55, Malcolm, 36, and Georgia, 34.

Despite a career spanning over five decades, Ford shows no signs of slowing down. With his wit, charm, and undeniable talent, it seems Hollywood won’t be forgetting his name anytime soon.
