Authorities have released new details regarding the tragic deaths of legendary actor Gene Hackman, 

his wife Betsy Arakawa, and their dog, after their bodies were discovered in their Santa Fe, New Mexico home. 

Among the items collected from the scene were three different types of medication, two cellphones, and a planner, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding their passing.

According to a search warrant inventory list released on Friday, 

sheriff’s deputies seized two green cellphones, along with Tylenol, a thyroid medication, and Diltiazem, which is commonly used to manage high blood pressure. 

Additionally, medical records from MyQuest, a patient portal from Quest Diagnostics, and a 2025 planner were taken as part of the investigation.

The 95-year-old Oscar-winning actor and his 65-year-old wife, a classical pianist, were found dead in their multi-million dollar Santa Fe residence. The discovery was made by maintenance workers on Wednesday afternoon after they had not seen the couple for approximately two weeks. One of the couple’s German Shepherds was also found deceased at the scene.

Authorities revealed that Arakawa’s body was discovered in a room where an open prescription pill bottle and scattered pills were present. However, it remains unclear if the seized medications were connected to those found near her body. Hackman, on the other hand, was found in what police described as the mudroom, where it appeared he had “suddenly fallen.”

Sheriff Adan Mendoza stated on Friday that the couple had likely been deceased for several days, possibly even weeks. Arakawa’s body was reportedly in a mummified and bloated state, suggesting an extended period before the discovery.

While law enforcement officials do not currently suspect foul play, they have classified the deaths as suspicious, warranting a full investigation. Authorities are awaiting the results of autopsy and toxicology reports to determine the exact cause of death.

One potential cause that has been ruled out is carbon monoxide poisoning. Fire department officials conducted tests and found no evidence of a gas leak in the home.

The sudden and mysterious nature of their deaths has left many stunned, especially given that Hackman was reportedly in good health. According to family members, the actor maintained a regular routine of yoga and Pilates and adhered to a strict diet managed by his wife.
