While Michael Strahan may be ABC’s resident football expert, it was George Stephanopoulos who walked away with a Super Bowl trophy on Monday. 

The Good Morning America anchor had more than just his birthday to celebrate—he also scored the best Super Bowl prediction among his colleagues, 

earning himself bragging rights and a shiny trophy to mark the occasion.

Monday, February 10, was not just any ordinary post-Super Bowl day. 

Known as one of the most popular days for people across the country to call in sick, it also happened to be Stephanopoulos’ 64th birthday. 

As the former White House communications director marked another year, his Good Morning America co-hosts ensured he had a memorable celebration both on and off the set.

At the end of the broadcast, the GMA team revisited their Super Bowl predictions. In a surprising twist, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, despite the Chiefs struggling to score for much of the game. Stephanopoulos had placed his bet on the Eagles securing a 35-28 victory, coming the closest to predicting the actual outcome. Fellow anchors Rebecca Jarvis and Sam Champion also supported the Eagles, but it was Stephanopoulos who received the most praise for his near-perfect call.

As the team gathered on set the next morning, Robin Roberts congratulated Stephanopoulos for his sharp prediction skills. In recognition of his win, he was awarded a Super Bowl trophy—a playful gesture that quickly became a highlight of the morning show. Not missing an opportunity to tease his colleague, Stephanopoulos turned to the camera and called out to Strahan, who was reporting live from New Orleans: “Michael, look what I have right now!”

Strahan, a former NFL star who spent his entire 15-year career with the New York Giants, is no stranger to Super Bowl victories. He famously helped lead his team to a win against the New England Patriots in 2008 before retiring from professional football later that year. Despite his deep-rooted football expertise, Strahan had to watch as his GMA co-host took home the morning’s big trophy—at least for the sake of friendly competition.

Adding to the celebration, Roberts reminded the audience of the day’s other big event: “And on your birthday! It’s George’s birthday, everyone!” Fellow GMA hosts Lara Spencer and Ginger Zee quickly joined in, ensuring Stephanopoulos felt the love on his special day.

Beyond the studio, the birthday wishes continued to pour in. His wife, actress and author Ali Wentworth, took to Instagram to share a heartwarming tribute.
