NOT LETTING THINGS SETTLE: Anna Kendrick continued her accusations, providing more proof that Blake Lively sabotaged her: “She plotted with the director to ruin me…”

As anticipation builds for Another Simple Favor, the upcoming sequel to 2018’s A Simple Favor, a new controversy is emerging behind the scenes.

Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, who star in the highly awaited film, are reportedly at odds when it comes to promoting the project.

Following Lively’s previous absence from promotional events for It Ends With Us, rumors have swirled about tensions between her and co-star Justin Baldoni.

Now, sources suggest that Kendrick is also hesitant to engage in joint publicity efforts

with Lively due to the ongoing legal battle involving the Gossip Girl alum and Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer Studios.

A Promotion Problem for Another Simple Favor

Despite the excitement surrounding the sequel, which is set to hit theaters on May 1, insiders claim that the film’s promotional tour is now clouded by off-screen drama. Originally, Lively and Kendrick were expected to work together on marketing efforts, but reports indicate that Kendrick is actively trying to distance herself.

According to a source speaking to DailyMail.com, Kendrick’s decision stems from her desire to avoid being dragged into discussions about Lively’s legal entanglement.

“These movies are basically all Anna and Blake have in common,” the insider revealed. “They have a working relationship, but by no means a close friendship or bond. Last-minute discussions are happening with executives because Anna would prefer to promote the movie on her own.”

Blake Lively’s Legal Drama Looms Large

The tension appears to be linked to Lively’s high-profile dispute with Baldoni, her co-star and producer on It Ends With Us. Last year, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment, while Baldoni countersued both Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for defamation, seeking $400 million in damages.

The ongoing legal turmoil has affected Lively’s public perception, with social media users expressing divided opinions. When Kendrick recently shared the first promotional poster for Another Simple Favor, she was met with overwhelming support—while Lively received backlash.

Many fans have voiced their unwillingness to support any project associated with Lively, with comments such as, “Love you, Anna, but I can’t stand Blake. Will not be watching this movie.”

Kendrick Takes the Lead in Promotion

With the film’s world premiere scheduled for March 7 at the SXSW Film and TV Festival in Austin, Texas, insiders say Lively will likely make an appearance—but beyond that, her level of involvement remains uncertain.

“Blake is obligated to promote the film, but she has control over how much she participates beyond SXSW,” another source explained. “Anna and the rest of the team do not expect her to take a deep role in the press tour.”

In contrast, Kendrick is reportedly prepared to handle most of the promotional responsibilities on her own, as she wants to avoid being drawn into questions about Lively’s lawsuit.

Adding another layer to the situation, Lively recently requested a one-month extension for her amended legal complaint. Some industry insiders speculate that this could serve as a reason for her to limit her promotional appearances for Another Simple Favor.

Industry Reactions and Paul Feig’s Support

Director Paul Feig, who helmed both the original film and the sequel, has attempted to steer attention back to the movie itself. When he shared the promotional poster for Another Simple Favor on social media, he notably tagged all the major stars—except Lively.

However, when fans questioned the omission, Feig stepped in to defend Lively, stating, “She has been nothing but supportive and a dream to work with. She is the best and an amazing collaborator, and I’m her biggest fan.”

Despite his endorsement, the controversy continues to dominate the conversation around the film.

What’s Next for Lively, Kendrick, and Another Simple Favor?

With Another Simple Favor fast approaching its release, the film’s success may hinge on whether the promotional campaign can overcome the media storm surrounding Lively’s legal case.

Kendrick appears set to take the lead, while Lively faces uncertainty about how much she will participate. Meanwhile, the lawsuit between Lively, Baldoni, and Reynolds is scheduled for trial in March 2026—meaning this drama is far from over.

As fans eagerly await the film, one thing is clear: the off-screen tensions may end up making as many headlines as the movie itself.
