Savannah Guthrie shocked everyone when she declared she WILL CUT TIES with TODAY and leave after realizing she was being excessively exploited. What happened?

Savannah Guthrie is taking a temporary break from her role on Today as she embarks on a passion project outside of Studio 1A.

The beloved NBC anchor recently announced that she will be stepping away from the morning show

to focus on an exciting book tour for her latest children’s book, Mostly What God Does Is Love You.

While her absence will be noticeable, Guthrie has the full support of her co-hosts, family, and fans as she embraces this new chapter.

Savannah Guthrie Announces Her Temporary Departure

In a heartfelt Instagram video, Guthrie shared her excitement about hitting the road to promote her book, which is a follow-up to her 2024 New York Times bestselling essay collection, Mostly What God Does.

She expressed her deep passion for the project, which focuses on themes of faith and love for young readers.

“We often tell our children how much we love them, but how different would our world be if we shared the simple truth that God loves them, too,” she explained. “This book is my way of sharing that message with the next generation so they grow up knowing how cherished they are and how, in turn, they can share that same love with others.”

Her book tour will take her to multiple cities, starting in Houston, Texas, on February 20. From there, she will make appearances in Illinois, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey before wrapping up in New York.

Faith and Family: The Driving Forces Behind Her Work

Guthrie has always been open about her Christian faith and how it influences her life. She credits her spirituality as a source of strength, saying, “It’s what makes me tick. It’s what makes me joyful. It’s what helps me navigate the world and stresses and disappointments and fears.”

Her journey as an author began with previous children’s books, but she was initially hesitant to take on new projects due to her demanding schedule. However, the opportunity to write about faith changed everything for her.

“I wasn’t sure there would be a book at the end of it, but I knew that it would be a really important path and journey to take,” she shared.

This book tour is particularly special as Guthrie will be joined by a selection of moderators, including her husband, Michael Feldman. Their shared excitement for the project makes it a family affair, with their children, Vale and Charley, also showing their support.

Who Will Fill In for Savannah Guthrie on ‘Today’?

As Guthrie takes time away from Today, viewers may wonder who will step in during her absence. While NBC has not made an official announcement, it is likely that her co-host Craig Melvin, along with other Today show anchors, will continue to hold down the fort in her absence.

Guthrie’s temporary departure follows a trend of other Today hosts pursuing personal projects while maintaining their presence on the show. Her decision to step back for a short period highlights the balance she continues to maintain between her career, her faith, and her role as a mother.

Excitement Builds for Guthrie’s Book Tour

As anticipation builds for Mostly What God Does Is Love You, fans are eager to see Guthrie connect with audiences in person. Her heartfelt message and dedication to spreading love and faith make this tour a meaningful milestone in her career.

While she may be away from Studio 1A for now, her presence will undoubtedly be felt as she continues inspiring young readers and families across the country.
