Shakira, the renowned Colombian singer, was hospitalized on Saturday night after experiencing an “abdominal issue,” 

forcing her to cancel her scheduled concert in Lima, Peru, as part of her ongoing world tour. 

The pop star, who began her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour on February 11, 

took to social media on Sunday to inform her fans of the health scare and express her regret for not being able to perform as planned.

In an emotional Instagram post, Shakira shared that she was receiving medical care and that her doctors had advised her not to take the stage due to her condition. 

“I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized,” she wrote. 

“The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening.”

The 46-year-old singer expressed how heartbroken she was over the cancellation, noting that she had been looking forward to performing for her fans in Lima. “I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I’ve been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru,” she continued. “I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I’m able to perform.” She added that her team and the promoters were already working on rescheduling the concert, reassuring her followers that a new date would be announced soon.
