Live television is unpredictable, and for talk show hosts, the occasional on-camera mishap is almost inevitable. 

Today show star Sheinelle Jones learned that the hard way when she experienced a wardrobe malfunction during the Monday, November 11, broadcast. 

And while she may have been able to keep the mishap under wraps, her co-host Al Roker had other plans.

Al Roker Exposes Jones’ Wardrobe Mishap

Jones, a co-host on Today’s Third Hour, suffered an unfortunate fashion fail when her navy slacks unexpectedly split. 

She might have been able to brush past the moment discreetly—if not for Roker, who wasted no time in pointing it out to the audience.

According to Hello!, the veteran meteorologist called attention to the situation, announcing that Jones had “split her pants.” Despite the embarrassing moment, Jones managed to laugh it off, taking comfort in the fact that the tear was at least in the back of her pants and not in a more noticeable spot.

“I’d show you, but then we’d get canceled,” she joked, keeping the mood light.

A Quick Fix Behind the Scenes

Roker wasn’t quite done having fun with the moment, though. After a commercial break, he seized the opportunity to deliver some “breaking news.” Instead of a major headline, he played a clip showing Jones being sewn back into her pants by a member of the wardrobe team.

“This is Alex in our wardrobe department—she just worked a miracle, she sewed me into my pants!” Jones said, laughing as she stood behind a desk while getting stitched back together.

While the quick fix saved Jones from further embarrassment, it did come with an unexpected downside.

“I can’t use the restroom for the rest of the hour—I’m sewed in,” she revealed.

Jones’ Return to Today After Time Away

Jones’ wardrobe malfunction happened just as she returned to Today following several weeks off the air. While her absence wasn’t explained, it didn’t go unnoticed. During that time, she also took a break from social media, remaining inactive for most of October.
