SHOCKING: Wendy Williams sparked concern after suggesting in court that her guardianship was controlled by an unseen force: “I’m not the one making decisions…”

Wendy Williams is taking legal action to reclaim control over her personal and financial affairs.

The former talk show host has reportedly filed an affidavit requesting that a judge terminate her guardianship, signaling her belief that she no longer requires oversight.

According to TMZ, Williams signed the legal document on Wednesday, February 7, formally petitioning for the removal of her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey.

Sources close to the situation claim that Williams, 60, insists she has “regained capacity” to manage her own life independently.

This legal battle comes amid Williams’ continued denial of her frontotemporal dementia (FTD) diagnosis, a condition that affects cognitive function and behavior.

Despite medical professionals diagnosing her with FTD in early 2024, the former television personality has repeatedly rejected the claim, calling it “fake” and “disgusting.”

Legal Efforts to End Guardianship

Williams has been under a court-ordered guardianship since 2022, following concerns about her health and financial management. This arrangement placed key decisions about her life in the hands of a legal guardian, limiting her autonomy.

However, in a new push for independence, Williams has hired a private attorney to assist in ending the guardianship. Reports indicate that she fired her court-appointed lawyer, Linda Redlisky, on January 29, signaling a shift in her legal strategy.

As part of this ongoing process, Williams is scheduled to undergo a new medical evaluation on February 18. Notably, this assessment is being conducted at the request of her own legal team rather than the court-appointed guardian. The results of this evaluation may play a crucial role in determining whether she regains control over her affairs.

Additionally, insiders suggest that her attorney intends to file an Emergency Order to Show Cause following the evaluation. This legal motion aims to expedite the process and push the court to reconsider Williams’ guardianship status.

What Happens If the Judge Denies the Request?

If the court rules against Williams’ petition to end the guardianship, sources claim she is prepared to escalate the fight. She is expected to request a jury trial, which would allow a group of jurors to decide whether or not she should remain under legal supervision.

This move mirrors high-profile conservatorship battles in Hollywood, with some comparing Williams’ case to that of Britney Spears, who spent 13 years under a conservatorship before winning her legal battle in 2021. Williams’ supporters have voiced concerns that she may be unfairly restricted, while others worry that removing the guardianship could put her at risk.

Williams Denies Dementia Diagnosis

Throughout this legal dispute, Williams has consistently denied having frontotemporal dementia, despite her doctors’ diagnosis. On February 5, she made an appearance on The Breakfast Club radio show, where she strongly rejected the claims about her health, calling them “disgusting” and “fake.”

The diagnosis of FTD, a degenerative brain disorder, can cause significant changes in personality, speech, and decision-making abilities. However, Williams insists that she is in sound mental condition and fully capable of managing her own affairs.

Concerns About Williams’ Well-Being

Williams’ limited public appearances have fueled speculation about her health and living conditions. In the recent TMZ documentary, Saving Wendy, she claimed that she has only left her home twice in the past 30 days, with one of those outings being for a dentist appointment.

These revelations have raised further concerns about whether she is being overprotected or genuinely in need of guardianship. Some insiders believe she is being unfairly controlled, while others fear that removing the legal oversight could leave her vulnerable.

What Comes Next?

The outcome of Williams’ February 18 medical evaluation will likely play a key role in her ongoing legal battle. If the assessment supports her claims of regained capacity, she may have a stronger case to regain independence. However, if the results indicate ongoing cognitive decline, the court could choose to maintain the guardianship.

Regardless of the decision, Williams appears determined to fight for her freedom. If the judge denies her request, she is prepared to pursue a jury trial to determine her legal status.

For now, her supporters and the public remain divided—some advocating for her right to independence, while others express concern for her long-term well-being. With the legal battle far from over, Wendy Williams’ fight for control over her own life continues to unfold in the public eye.
