TJ Holmes shattered Amy Robach by announcing he REGRETTED his proposal in a recent post. What’s the full story?

TJ Holmes and Amy Robach are continuing to share insights into their relationship, this time discussing their personal views on marriage proposals.

The couple, who have been open about their romance on their TJ & Amy podcast, tackled the topic of holiday engagements in their latest episode.

During a question-and-answer session, the two were asked about proposals on Christmas Day, and Robach made it clear that it wasn’t something she would ever want.

No Holiday Proposals for Amy Robach

Robach expressed her firm stance against getting engaged on a holiday, saying, “I learned that no one should ever congratulate the bride after a proposal or a wedding.

You should congratulate the groom because he’s lucky to have her. But that is maybe old-fashioned.”

Holmes, ever the romantic, quickly responded, reassuring his partner that she doesn’t need a special occasion to feel appreciated. “I always tell my girlfriend that I am lucky to be with her every day,” he said.

For those wondering whether the couple had a special engagement planned for the holiday season, Holmes shut down any speculation. “And no, there will not be, obviously, for anyone who is wondering—there won’t be a Christmas Day proposal,” he stated.

Reflections on Past Proposals

During the episode, Holmes asked Robach about the timing of her previous engagements. She was first married to Tim McIntosh from 1996 to 2008, and later to Andrew Shue from 2010 until their divorce in 2023. Holmes has also been married twice before—first to Amy Ferson from 2004 to 2007 and later to Marilee Fiebig, whom he divorced in 2023.

When asked about the days she had been proposed to, Robach revealed, “Random days that had zero significance.”

This isn’t the first time the couple has hinted at their future engagement. Earlier this month, Robach confidently stated that a proposal was inevitable, saying, “It’s not an if, it’s a when.”

She also reminded Holmes of a previous conversation in which he had insisted that she should never be the one to propose. “TJ, you told me that I should never propose to you,” she recalled.

Holmes, seeming unsure of the exchange, asked for clarification, prompting Robach to jog his memory. “Remember, we were talking about women proposing to men?”

She then elaborated on their discussions about marriage, explaining that while no date had been set, she had expressed a preference for a fall wedding. “We don’t have a date, obviously, and we haven’t even decided what we’re going to do,” she said. “[But] I said I want to, and I’d like to in the fall, [and] that would be akin to me proposing to you.”

Living Together ‘Not by Choice’

Beyond their conversations about marriage, Holmes and Robach have shared various details about their relationship, including how they ended up living together—albeit temporarily—under unexpected circumstances.

In a previous episode of their podcast, Robach revealed that her daughter, Ava, had moved into her New York City apartment while dealing with a roach infestation at her own place.

“Ava has an apartment in the Village. It has a massive roach infestation,” Robach explained, revealing that the issue stemmed from a neighbor who was a hoarder.

Holmes chimed in, describing the severity of the situation: “Armies of roaches making their way from his apartment to hers.”

According to Robach, the infestation was so overwhelming that roaches were found in her daughter’s sheets and even crawling out of her air conditioning unit. While Ava and her roommates arranged to move to another unit in the same building, she needed a temporary place to stay—leading Robach to offer her home.

To give Ava more space, Robach decided to stay with Holmes, which led to the couple experiencing what it was like to live together full-time.

Despite the sudden change, Holmes said he had no complaints about the arrangement. “I’ve enjoyed the time we’ve had together. It’s been a little different, but I’ve liked it,” he shared.

A Relationship in the Spotlight

From discussing engagement timelines to navigating unexpected cohabitation, Holmes and Robach continue to be candid about their relationship on their podcast. While a proposal is on the horizon, the couple appears to be in no rush, preferring to enjoy their time together without the pressure of a specific date.

Their openness about their personal lives has kept fans engaged, with many eagerly awaiting the next chapter in their love story. Whether or not they’ll make it down the aisle soon remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—Holmes and Robach are fully committed to each other and enjoying every moment of their journey together.
