Whoopi Goldberg from The View erupted in anger after discovering her unintended connection to a scandal involving the sale of dangerous medication. What went down?

Whoopi Goldberg is making sure her fans and viewers are aware of a deceptive advertisement making the rounds on social media.

The *View* co-host took to the popular ABC talk show on February 5 to denounce a “phony” weight loss ad that is using her image

and a manipulated version of her voice, powered by artificial intelligence (AI), to promote a product she had no involvement with.

During the show, Goldberg wasted no time in warning her audience about the misleading advertisement.

“I’m giving everybody a heads up,” she said. “There is a phony weight loss ad floating around online, on Instagram, that has me… AI mouthed, saying all kinds of stuff.”

Goldberg was quick to make it clear that she did not endorse or participate in the ad in any way.

The Oscar-winning actress and EGOT winner went on to explain that the AI-generated ad was using her likeness, combining footage from an appearance she made on *CBS Sunday Morning* and manipulating it to make it seem like she was endorsing weight loss drugs. Goldberg emphasized that such tactics were not only deceptive but also highly misleading, especially when it comes to her personal weight loss journey.

Goldberg is known for being transparent and open about her own health and wellness choices, so the ad left her frustrated, especially because it falsely attributed the promotion of weight loss products to her. “I don’t sell anything unless I say, ‘Hey, it’s me, Whoopi,’” she explained, assuring viewers that they can trust any official endorsements she makes when it comes directly from her.

In a direct message to the public, Goldberg encouraged everyone to disregard the AI-generated ad entirely. “Do not indulge in this,” she warned. “Do not look at this. Just get rid of it because I don’t know what it is. I had nothing to do with it, and I don’t want y’all thinking that this is coming from me.” She took the opportunity to reinforce the truth about her personal approach to weight loss, saying, “I told you what I did. I was upfront. I don’t have any reason to go sell some other stuff. I told you how I got my Mounjaro. I used Mounjaro, which is what I did.”

Mounjaro is a medication prescribed for weight loss, which Goldberg has previously discussed publicly as part of her own weight loss journey. By sharing her authentic experience, she aimed to show her audience what worked for her and was clear that any other product or program claiming her endorsement was not legitimate.

The legendary performer also expressed her concerns about the dangers of AI technology, which can be used to manipulate videos and images in ways that are hard to trace or verify. “I don’t know who these people are. That’s the problem with AI. You don’t know who made it,” Goldberg said, calling the use of her image and voice in the ad “a lot of BS.” She urged viewers to be cautious about what they see online and to remain skeptical of unverified claims.

To further clarify, Goldberg encouraged her audience to correct anyone who may have encountered the misleading ad. “If you hear someone say, ‘Whoopi said…,’ you can say to them, ‘No! She just told me that is not correct.’” With these words, Goldberg made it clear that she wanted to maintain control over her personal brand and image and that no one should be deceived by AI-generated content that falsely associates her with products she has not endorsed.

In today’s digital age, where technology like AI can blur the lines between fact and fiction, Goldberg’s warning serves as an important reminder to always verify information before trusting it. The actress and activist has always been known for her authenticity, and her public call-out of the deceptive ad was yet another example of her commitment to honesty with her fans. By addressing the issue head-on, Goldberg not only protected her own reputation but also empowered her audience to be more mindful of the content they consume on social media.
